The FIREBALLS
"Complete Instrumentals &
Chuck Tharp Vocals"
DOWNLOAD
From Raton, New Mexico "The
Fireballs" formed in 1957 to become early pioneers
of the guitar instrumental sound that was so very influential to budding
musicians of the era.
Although commonly and erroneously referred to as "surf" guitar, George
Tomsco's distinctive style
had a unique sound of its own, captured brilliantly by Norman Petty at his
Clovis, New Mexico studio.
This release compiles all of the titles recorded by the group between 1958 and
1969
under their various monikers such as "Guitars Inc.", "George
Tomsco & The Dots", "Lupe",
"The String-A-Longs" and 2 tracks by drummer Eric Budd under the alias
of "Curly Whistle".
Also featured are unreleased Petty Studio demos by Chuck Tharp, and George
Tomsco has dug
out the earliest recordings of the band that were recorded on acetate disc in
the summer of 1958.

I have spent several hours thoroughly enjoying the incredible music, personal
nostalgia having seen the Fireballs when they played
the Gardens Ballroom here in Calgary in the early sixties, hearing the evolution
of the musicians and noting the band’s
progression through different through different styles of music. Thank you for
this marvelous journey in musical time"
